Following in the footsteps of Bridport, Portland and Weymouth, and Wimborne Minster, Sherborne will take centre stage in a county-wide celebration of creativity, heritage, and community. The town’s winning bid, centred on the theme "Culture Everywhere", aims to ensure art and hands-on expression reach every corner of local life, from historic landmarks such as Sherborne Abbey to our vibrant independent businesses.

For us, the announcement feels especially meaningful because it reflects so much of what Sherborne already does well: bringing people together through creativity, independent businesses, heritage, and hands-on making.

Nurturing Local Creativity at No. 7

At The Country Crib, we couldn’t be more excited by the news. Since opening our store at 18a Cheap Street in Sherborne, our passion has always been rooted in craftsmanship, natural materials, and sustainable living. We love championing local talent, from handcrafted homeware and gifts by local artisans to beautiful greeting cards created by Dorset artists.

Through No. 7 (located just up the street at 7 Cheap Street), we’ve created a dedicated space for workshops that encourage makers of all skill levels to learn, experiment, and create. Whether it’s painting, gold leaf, flower arranging, or botanical craft, No. 7 is all about giving the community room to slow down and pick up a new skill.

What’s Ahead for 2027?

As Sherborne prepares for its year-long programme of events, The Country Crib and No. 7 will be right at the heart of the action.

While the exact details are still to be confirmed, we’re working alongside local partners to develop a special series of community workshops, artisan collaborations, and pop-up events throughout 2027. We look forward to welcoming visitors from across Dorset and beyond.
